Ministries and Projects
Ministries offering organized construction projects:
US side of the Border: There are many opportunities for different types of construction teams throughout the area of the McAllen District of the UMC. Depending on the gifts of service that your team brings, referrals from local social service agencies and can be shared for projects ranging from painting, yard cleaning, wheelchair ramp building, minor or major home and/or church repair or modification. This type of project requires a construction coordinator to come with the team. Much of the planning for these projects rests on the team leader and construction coordinator. There is a great need for this type of team to serve those who live in severely substandard housing or to help churches in need of repair.
Please contact Susan Hellums at shellums@mcfirst.com.

Mexico: One of the priorities of the Methodist Church of Mexico is to use the efforts of the visiting construction teams to complete and improve church facilities, i.e. classrooms, churches, parsonages. This includes building new facilities where needs have been identified and approved by appropriate church authorities. There are also opportunities to build homes for people in severe poverty situations.
